This model comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a 10-speed automatic transmission with selectShift® capability to ensure you have dependable performance on the road.

Intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD) is available for drivers who want some extra traction and support. Plus, this available drivetrain comes with Terrain Management System™ and seven selectable drive modes. Choose which drive mode you need with the easy-to-use center console dial.

Behind all the power, the Explorer will have one of three available engines. The 2.3L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine has 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 engine has up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque available. Additionally, the available 3.3L Hybrid engine can achieve 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque.
