With Ford Intelligent Backup Power, you’ll have an alternative to fishing out the flashlights and candles if there’s a power outage. The Ford F-150 Lightning has the ability to be used as a generator to help keep the lights on and power your appliances.

This is due to the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, which comes standard with the extended-range battery for the F-150 Lightning. The Ford Charge Station Pro is professionally installed and hardwired to your home’s electrical box with the Home Integration System, and provides a bi-directional power flow between your Lightning and your home.

How It Works

Once everything is installed, you can plug in your F-150 Lightning to begin charging and taking advantage of the Intelligent Backup Power. On a full charge with the extended-range battery, you can power your home for three days, or possibly even up to ten days if power is appropriately rationed.

Managing Ford Intelligent Backup Power is easy thanks to the available FordPass™ app. With it, you’ll have everything you’ll need on your phone, right in your pocket. You can easily:

• View your system’s status
• Set a power cutoff limit
• View your Lightning truck’s charge status
• Receive alerts for outages and when power is restored

You can also choose to manually activate Intelligent Backup Power, or have it automatically kick on when an outage is detected.

Keep Power at the Ready

To effectively use Ford Intelligent Backup Power, you’ll first need to be sure your Lightning is charged and ready. Luckily, the Lightning has several ways to keep it powered up at home and on the go, so you’ll have your home usage at the ready.

At home, the Ford Charge Station Pro will be your best bet, and is able to fully charge the Lightning truck’s extended-range battery from 15% in just 8 hours! Also available on all 2022 F-150 Lightning models is the Mobile Power Cord, which can plug into any standard 120V or 240V outlet for flexible charging options while traveling.
